2024 season features 27 home games at on-campus ballpark
The Marshall University Baseball program unveiled its 2024 schedule for what is to be a historic inaugural season at Jack Cook Field.
The first games set for Jack Cook Field will be a series against Manhattan (Mar. 1-3) with another series the following weekend against Southeast Missouri State (Mar. 8-10).
“The 2024 season is going to be exciting and memorable to say the least,” Herd baseball head coach Greg Beals said. “The March 1-3 Inaugural Series at Jack Cook Field vs. Manhattan is certainly a feature and one to mark on your calendars. However, our entire schedule is very demanding. The early season road series and two home series will be very important for preparing us for the rigor of the Sun Belt Conference. Furthermore, we have several strong midweek games against West Virginia, Virginia Tech and other local opponents. We are excited about the upcoming season. We are excited about opening our new home and we are excited to represent this great university and community.”
Also coming to Huntington this season will be Bellarmine (Mar. 5), West Virginia (Mar. 20), Virginia Tech (Apr. 2), Morehead State (Apr. 16), EKU (May 1) and Ohio (May 8) for non-conference contests.
In addition to the home game with the Mountaineers, MU will take on the Mountaineers in Charleston (Mar. 12) and a ballgame in Morgantown (Apr. 10).
In SBC play, Marshall will host Arkansas State (Mar. 22-24), Texas State (Apr. 5-7), Old Dominion (Apr. 19-21) and Georgia State (May 3-5) before closing the regular season against the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Regular Season Champions and 2023 NCAA Tournament qualifier Coastal Carolina (May 16-18).
The Herd will take on three other 2023 NCAA Qualifiers in Indiana State at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida (Feb. 23), a series at SBC Tournament Champions Southern Miss (Mar. 15-17) and a series at Louisiana (Apr. 12-14).
