Big Time Wrestling: Lords of the Ring returned to the Wayne High School Gymnasium March 18th for an evening of both powerhouse and technical in ring action, featuring industry veteran, current Impact Wrestling superstar Rhino.
The night kicked off with one of most entertaining bouts I’ve seen in person, Jason “The Gift” Kincaid vs Nikeem Avent, lasting for over twenty minutes, finally concluding with a horizontal stretch submission by Kincaid. Not only that, but Kincaid’s crowd work is top tier; when the fans began chanting “get a sno-cone”, Kincaid did just that. Everybody went nuts for it.
Nikeem Avent is a talented up and coming high flyer who did not go down without a fight, hitting two suicide dives, a cutter, and an inverted senton bomb on “The Gift” before finally tapping out.
Additionally, the match finished with a handshake between both competitors, which is always nice to see.
Team No Respect were at the event, causing trouble as always, threatening the fans old and young; Madman Pondo and Mickie Knuckles, two thirds of Team No Respect were forced to relinquish their weapons in a rare traditional showing against the team of “Rock and Roll” Jimmy Ray and Big Time Wrestling Women’s Champion Rachel Armstrong.
The referee officiating the match was taken out by a misplaced offensive maneuver however, quickly giving Team No Respect the advantage as Madman Pondo bent his signature stop sign around Armstrong’s head. Jimmy Ray was forced to watch Knuckles pin Armstrong for the victory, another unsurprising vicious attack on the BTW roster by Team No Respect. When will the carnage cease?
Reigning, defending Big Time Wrestling World Champion, the living weapon called Omega stomped out to the ring accompanied by manager Rufus, seemingly shaking the earth with every step. Leading up to this match, Omega knew for certain he was ready for Rhino, his greatest challenger to date.
What Omega was not ready for though, was the Gore, Rhino’s finishing maneuver (running full force and speed into the opponent’s abdomen, shoulder first). The moment Omega was Gored, manager Rufus saw an opportunity to distract Rhino, entering the ring and taking a big fist in the jaw for his trouble. The altercation gave Omega just enough time to evacuate, refusing to meet a ten count and forfeiting the match.
Though Rhino was declared the victor, titles may not change hands by way of count out, as is tradition in professional wrestling. Shrewdly, Omega had retained his title.
Rhino then took to the microphone and warned Omega that former champion Jimmy Ray would be back for his title, leading the fans in a “Rock and Roll” chant as he exited.
Big Time Wrestling will return to the Wayne High School Gymnasium on April 15th, 2023, as part of a fundraiser for the Tri-State Lumberjacks traveling football team.
Until then, Omega remains dominant over the BTW locker room.
