Herdcon 2023 kicks off tomorrow as community members of all ages come out and celebrate “nerd” culture, a melting pot of fandoms consisting of diehard collectors, consumers, and admirers alike.

It is expected that many will be out in cosplay for the event; the HerdCon Cosplay Contest takes place 1pm on Saturday.

There are many other attractions for attendees to enjoy, however. Those interested in gaming are encouraged to join fellow enthusiasts in checking out all the video and board games being showcased, perhaps even discover a new and exciting gameplay experience.

Those with a thirst for knowledge may attend one (or more) of several panels discussing the first steps of podcast production, how comic books tell more than just superhero stories, and television narratives centered around domestic violence, to name a few.

Herdcon 2023 is also a great opportunity to support local businesses acting as vendors for the event. Food trucks Bite Mi and Southside Sliders will be there serving hungry Huntingtonians, along with over 60 other food, fashion, craft, and collectible vendors (not to mention the exhibitors, many of whom are community and school organizations).

This massive event is free to the public and takes place Friday the 24th, and Saturday the 25th.

Special guests Justin and Dr. Sydney McElroy will host a live version of their Sawbones podcast from 1-2 pm Friday, tickets can be reserved here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/herdcon-sawbones-live-tickets-557803875407
