The traveling Nomadic Artstream exhibition stopped at the Huntington Museum of Art this past weekend, showcasing beautiful handmade works of pottery and ceramic for citizens of the Jewel City to come and admire up close.

The exhibition, situated cleverly inside an Airstream recreational vehicle, was visited by HNN’s Neera Burner on Sunday.

Speaking with Brooke Cashion, one of the creative minds behind Artstream, Neera asked, “How do you travel with all that really fragile stuff?”

“We put it all into bins and lots of bubble wrap!” Replied Brooke enthusiastically, “We usually have very few casualties…it’s been on the road since 2001, and we’ve been to more than 400 stops across the US!”

“And so now you’re here in Huntington! What’s that like?” Asked Neera.

“It’s amazing!” said Brooke, “The museum here is absolutely flabbergasting; it’s so extensive. I knew they had amazing ceramics, but going in and seeing the rest of what they have in the collection is really spectacular.”

The artists themselves set up a workshop at HMA so members of the community could actually sit and watch the process of making the ceramics that travel with Artstream.

“We have twenty five artists in this exhibition from the US and Canada,” Cashion informed HNN.

Other locations set to be visited by the Artstream Nomadic Exhibition on their Spring 2023 tour include the NCECA Conference in Cincinnati and SIUE in Edwardsville, Illinois.
