On Friday afternoon, I went to sound check at The Foundry Theater located inside of Huntington’s City Hall. Zay Lukas has booked a special event called “Them In Black: An Intergalactic Queer Party” with entertainment including electronic dance music, pop, rap, and drag. The doors open at 6pm on Saturday, February 25 and the show starts at 7pm with all ages welcome to attend.

Here is a transcript of my brief interview with Zay Lukas and Cricketman:

Erika (Buni Muni): Saturday, we’re having an event called “Them In Black.” Zay, could you tell me a little bit about where this theme idea came from?

Zay: I had pitched this idea to Jared (his DJ) over a year ago, honestly- I had an idea for it to be much more extensive but we were kind of on a time crunch with it… but just sort of like a Men In Black / Area 51 themed party, and obviously it was it was always gonna be like a queer party thing. Just to sort of let people be ‘out there’, do their thing and not be observed in a way.

Erika: Fabulous! I’m sure it’ll be ‘out of this world’.

Zay: Yeah.

Erika: Cricketman, are you loving the new sound system here at The Foundry?

Cricketman: I am! I love these giant ass subs that they picked up recently. They’re like the size of a refrigerator and I hope that we don’t melt anybody’s eardrums- But I kind of do at the same time!

Erika: Do you want to give us just a list real quick of who all will be appearing at the show?

Zay: So, we have two drag performances by Nyshyne and Indigo Richwood. Then we have Cricketman, Buni Muni, and Zay Lucas. You don’t want to miss it.

Erika: Awesome. All right, we’ll see you all here Saturday!
