Senior earns first conference weekly honor of the season

NEW ORLEANS – Marshall University swimmer Madeline Hart was named the Sun Belt Conference Swimmer of the Week on Friday, as announced by the league office. It is Hart’s first weekly award of the season and the team’s third.

Hart achieved four personal bests this weekend at the Purdue Invitational. Her 200 Freestyle (1:50.59) and 200 Butterfly (2:01.52) ranks 1st in the SBC. Her 100 Butterfly (55.13) and 50 Free (23.67) ranks 2nd and 6th, respectively, in the SBC. Both butterfly performances (100 – ninth all-time/200 – fifth all-time) rank in Marshall’s all-time top-10 in program history along with her 200 Freestyle (9th All Time).

Hart also helped set all-time top-10 marks in the 400 & 800 Freestyle relays. Her leadoff in the 800 free relay was a lifetime best and helped achieve the eighth fastest relay in Marshall history. Her 400 Free Relay split (50.68) helped set the sixth fastest in program history. She scored in two A Finals, one B Final, and swam all five relays.
