The West Virginia University women’s tennis team returns home this weekend for its final matches of the 2025 season, welcoming No. 15 Texas Tech and Colorado to the Summit Tennis Academy in Morgantown.

The action kicks off on Friday, April 4, at 11 a.m. ET as the Mountaineers take on nationally ranked Texas Tech. On Sunday, April 6, at 11 a.m., WVU will face Colorado in what will also serve as Senior Day for the program.

Celebrating WVU Seniors

Sunday’s match will honor five Mountaineers for their dedication and contributions to the program:

  • Maja Dodik (Redshirt Junior)
  • Mille Haagensen (Senior)
  • Tatiana Lipatova (Senior)
  • Michaela Kucharova (Senior)
  • Catherine Wassick (Senior)

The ceremony will take place following the match against Colorado, marking a heartfelt farewell to players who have helped shape WVU tennis in recent seasons.

Season Update

West Virginia (7-14, 1-9 Big 12) enters the weekend fresh off its first Big 12 Conference win of the season, a thrilling 4-3 victory over Houston. The Mountaineers followed that performance with a tough 4-0 loss to UCF.

Despite the challenging schedule, several Mountaineers have found success on the singles court:

  • Julie Bousseau (Graduate) – 7 wins
  • Mille Haagensen – 6 wins
  • Maja Dodik – 5 wins
  • Laura Villanueva Morillo (Freshman) – 5 wins

These individual performances show promising growth and grit throughout the season.

Looking Ahead to the Weekend

Friday’s matchup against Texas Tech will be a tough test, as the Red Raiders come in ranked No. 15 nationally. Texas Tech is the seventh ranked opponent WVU has faced this season, and the Mountaineers will look to secure their first-ever win over the powerhouse program.

Sunday’s clash with Colorado will be a historic one—it’s the first time in program history that WVU and Colorado meet on the tennis court.
