Linebacker Cameron Dwyer was already committed to West Virginia, but his recent official visit to Morgantown erased any lingering doubts. The Palm Beach Central (Fla.) standout said the trip confirmed everything he believed about the program — and more.
“The visit was great. It checked many boxes and so much more,” said Dwyer. “The experience was amazing. I love how the staff and Coach Rod are very family-oriented.”
At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, Dwyer entered the visit wanting to see every part of the WVU program. From the moment he stepped foot on campus, he felt welcomed. One moment that stood out? Being greeted with cheers from the coaching staff when he arrived at the facility on Day One.
“It was exciting just to be on campus,” he said.
Dwyer spent time with defensive coordinator Zac Alley, discussing how he’d fit into the Mountaineers’ system. And while the staff was evaluating him, he came prepared to do the same — notepad and pen in hand.
“I took down notes and really paid attention to how they plan to use me on defense,” Dwyer said. “What they showed me gave me confidence and trust in what they’re building.”
He was also impressed by how much the players respect Alley, praising the coach’s football IQ and leadership on defense.
Dwyer didn’t come to Morgantown alone. He brought along teammate Antoine Sharp, a fellow 2026 linebacker who’s currently committed to UCF. But Dwyer made it clear he’s hoping to flip him.
“I put on my recruiting hat,” Dwyer joked. “I told him we could take that duo to the next level in gold and blue.”
Now, with his visit complete and commitment stronger than ever, Dwyer is eager to finish out his high school career and eventually join WVU.
“All of my boxes were checked,” he said. “I’m just ready to work now.”
