WVU Adds New Nonconference Football Games Through 2031

The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has officially added several nonconference football games to its future schedules, giving fans more to look forward to at Milan Puskar Stadium in the coming years.

Here’s a look at the newly scheduled matchups:

  • 2026 (Sept. 12) – WVU will host UT-Martin for the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
  • 2027 (Sept. 11)VMI comes to Morgantown for the first time since 1972. WVU leads the all-time series 11-0.
  • 2031 (Aug. 30) – VMI will return for another matchup.
  • 2028 (Sept. 9)Youngstown State visits for the third time. WVU won the previous two meetings, with the last one in 2018.
  • 2028 (Sept. 16) and 2030 (Sept. 14)Akron appears on the Mountaineers’ schedule for the first time with two games in Morgantown.
  • 2030 (Aug. 31)Rhode Island will replace St. Francis (Pa.) on the schedule. This will mark the first matchup between WVU and Rhode Island.

Season Tickets Now Available

Season tickets for West Virginia’s six-game home schedule are currently available. One affordable option returning this year is the 304 Mobile Pass.

  • Seats vary: Fans receive a different seat each game in either the upper level or south end zone.

Backyard Brawl Ticket Update

Due to high demand, single-game tickets for the Backyard Brawl against Pitt on Sept. 13 are not available to the general public. The only way to secure a seat is through a season ticket package.
