West Virginia football is heating up on the recruiting trail, landing five new commitments for its 2026 class in a single day—and it’s only the beginning of the summer push.
The Mountaineers’ latest additions bring their 2026 total to 12 recruits, with 11 rated as three-star prospects, signaling a strong early showing for head coach Rich Rodriguez and his staff.
DB Simaj Hill Flips to WVU
The day kicked off with a major move: Simaj Hill, a defensive back from Philadelphia, flipped his commitment from James Madison to West Virginia. A three-star prospect ranked as the 49th-best player in Pennsylvania (247Sports), Hill brings versatility to WVU’s secondary, with the ability to play both cornerback and safety.
OL Rhett Morris Joins the Trenches
Shortly after Hill’s commitment, Rhett Morris, a three-star offensive lineman from New Jersey, also announced his decision. With offers from programs like Army, Boston College, Coastal Carolina, and JMU, Morris is ranked as the 31st-best player in New Jersey. He becomes the first offensive lineman in WVU’s 2026 class—a crucial addition for the Mountaineers’ future up front.
DL Cam Mallory Picks WVU After Visits
Next up was Cam Mallory, a three-star defensive lineman from Alabama. Mallory chose the Mountaineers after visits to both Boston College and WVU, ultimately committing following a June 6 trip to Morgantown. He’s ranked as the 45th-best player in Alabama and adds depth and power to the defensive front.
WVU Flips Oregon State Commit Noah Tishendorf
Perhaps the biggest flip of the day came from Noah Tishendorf, a pass rusher from Oregon, who had previously committed to Oregon State in May.
After visiting Morgantown and receiving an offer, Tishendorf changed course and joined the Mountaineers. A three-star recruit and the 6th-best player in Oregon, Tishendorf stands at 6’3″ and 240 pounds, bringing size and aggression off the edge.
Linebacker Miles Khatri Rounds Out the Day
The final commit of the day came in the evening, when Miles Khatri, an unranked linebacker, announced his decision. Khatri becomes the first linebacker in WVU’s 2026 recruiting class and further boosts the team’s defensive depth.
Strong Start to Summer Recruiting
All five commitments came shortly after official visits, showing how effective WVU’s facilities, coaching staff, and recruiting pitch have been with rising talent across the country. The Mountaineers’ ability to flip commitments from other schools also highlights a growing momentum in Morgantown.
With summer just beginning, WVU’s red-hot recruiting run may be far from over.
