Don Bosco Prep head coach Dan Sabella has coached his share of standout offensive linemen over the past seven years. But Rhett Morris, the 6-foot-3, 305-pound WVU commit, stands out as one of the very best to come through the program.
Morris, a three-star recruit from Rivals.com, grew up just minutes from Don Bosco’s campus in New Jersey. His football roots run deep—his father was a standout college player who even spent time at the semi-professional level. It didn’t take long for the Bosco staff to notice the younger Morris.
“We saw him play a couple of times in eighth grade,” said Sabella. “And every year, he just kept getting better. He’s got a ton of upside.”
From the beginning, Morris embraced what it means to be an offensive lineman. He’s not looking for glory or headlines—he’s focused on doing the dirty work that helps his team succeed.
“He plays with a chip on his shoulder,” Sabella said. “He finishes blocks, wants to be the aggressor, and doesn’t shy away from the physical part of the game. He gets his hands dirty.”
Starting as a sophomore at Don Bosco—one of the toughest feats at the school—Morris proved early that he was ready. Though a natural center, he’s been a force at guard, showing versatility and football IQ.
“Honestly, he’s been our best player,” Sabella admitted.
Morris’s growth hasn’t come by accident. His weight room numbers are strong, his technique is sharp, and he’s faced high-level competition every step of the way—both in games and at practice.
“He made it clear early that he wanted to play major college football,” said Sabella. “And he’s backed that up with his effort and performance. He’s not done growing either—there’s still a lot of potential ahead.”
Off the field, Morris is a vocal leader and a model teammate. Sabella believes that his personality and dedication will make an immediate impact in West Virginia’s offensive line room.
“Football is a big part of his life—even when he’s not playing, he’s training or working on technique with his offensive line coach,” Sabella said. “He’s serious about getting better.”
With his combination of size, toughness, and relentless work ethic, Rhett Morris is exactly the kind of player West Virginia fans will love to root for—on and off the field.
