It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kimberly Dawn Houser Snyder, a remarkable woman whose life was filled with love, purpose, and unwavering faith.

After a courageous eight-month battle with cancer, Kim passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and wrapped in countless prayers.

Born on May 7, 1965, in Wheeling, West Virginia, Kim was the daughter of the late Bill Houser and Betty Petty Houser. She was a proud graduate of Parkersburg High School, class of 1983, where she made her mark as a standout basketball player.

Her incredible skill and determination on the court led her to West Virginia University, where she continued her basketball journey and became an inspiration to many.

It was at WVU that she met the love of her life, sportswriter Ross Snyder. Their love story blossomed into a 40-year marriage filled with laughter, resilience, and deep devotion.

Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with four children, who became the center of Kim’s world. Her love for her family was boundless and evident in every moment she shared with them.

Kim’s faith in God was her guiding light. A long-time member of the North End Church of Christ, she lived her life with kindness, grace, and a deep love for the Lord. She touched many lives not only through her faith but also through her career in education.

She taught at McKinley Elementary until its closure and later at Jefferson Elementary, where her patience and nurturing spirit left a lasting mark on her students and colleagues.

Kim’s love for children and sports naturally led her to coaching, where she made a profound impact on countless young athletes. From elementary to high school teams, Kim was known not only for her coaching skills but also for the care and encouragement she gave to each player. Coaching her own children and grandchildren brought her immense joy and pride.

A spirited woman, Kim embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. Whether she was working out at the gym, biking, or enjoying a family game night, her competitive nature and fun-loving spirit always shone through. Her favorite place on earth was Holden Beach, where she found peace, joy, and relaxation each summer with her toes in the sand and her heart full.

Kim’s legacy will live on in the hearts of many. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ross Snyder; daughters Kayla (Michael) Snyder-Umstot, Kelsey Snyder, and Kameron Snyder; son Karson Snyder; grandchildren Fallon Lindamood, Abram Lindamood, Dior Dunn-Martin, and Aleka Dunn-Martin; sister Denise (Jerry) Carpenter; brother David Houser; nieces Jenna Carpenter, Katherine (Josh) Trembly, and Rebecca Baughan; and birth siblings Jennifer (Scott) Duarte, Traci (Joe) Terrango, Andy Sorine, and Mark (Kristen) Sorine, whom she had the blessing to reconnect with later in life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Jim and Lana Snyder, and sister-in-law Ann Baughan.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, May 16, 2025, at North End Church of Christ, 1301 West Virginia Avenue, Parkersburg, WV, with Bob Carr officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may visit from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

The Snyder family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kelli Cawley and Cammie Meriwether of Amedisys Hospice for their incredible compassion during Kim’s final days.

In true Kim fashion, she requested no flowers at her service. Instead, she asked that flowers be given to someone you love—your spouse, a dear friend, or a relative—as a reminder to cherish the time you have together.

For those who wish to honor Kim’s memory, donations may be made to Potter’s Children’s Home at 2350 Nashville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42101 or North Place Maternity House at 3109 Emerson Avenue, Parkersburg, WV 26104.

Kimberly Snyder’s legacy is one of strength, grace, and immeasurable love. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
