Dorsey Carl “Ike” Mace, age 84, of Marietta, Ohio, and formerly of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Waterview Point in Marietta.
Born on February 28, 1941, in Roane County, West Virginia, Ike was the son of the late Freer and Effie Reynolds Mace. Throughout his life, Ike was known for his strong work ethic, steady hands, and dependable spirit. He spent many years working as a heavy equipment operator before shifting gears into masonry as a skilled block and bricklayer.
Ike’s journey was marked not only by his craftsmanship but by the quiet devotion he showed to his family. He is survived by his son, Dan Mace of Belpre, Ohio; his beloved grandchildren, Dalton and Amaya Mace, who brought him endless pride and joy; and his cherished fur baby, Oreo, a loyal companion in his later years.
He also leaves behind three devoted brothers: Ken (Vicki) Mace of Samson, Alabama, and Joe (Marge) and David (Cathy) Mace, both of Parkersburg, West Virginia. Their bond was strong and enduring, built on shared roots and lifelong memories.
Ike was preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna J. Mace, as well as several siblings who welcomed him home with open arms.
Those who knew Ike remember him as a man of quiet strength, a dedicated worker, and someone who found joy in the simple things in life—family dinners, heartfelt conversations, and time spent in the company of loved ones. His presence was steady, his words kind, and his heart full.
At this time, no formal services are planned to honor Ike’s life. His family has chosen to remember him privately, in the way he lived—modestly, lovingly, and without fanfare.
Arrangements are being handled by Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, West Virginia.
While Ike may no longer walk among us, his legacy of love, loyalty, and hard work will remain forever etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
