He reminded attendees that these freedoms are granted by God, not the government. “It’s our job as legislators to safeguard those liberties at all costs,” Morrisey said.

House Bill 2067 – Protecting Gun Manufacturers

  • HB 2067 ensures that firearm companies cannot be unfairly held responsible for the actions of criminals.
  • “The far left has pushed to sue gun manufacturers for the actions of criminals,” Morrisey explained. “That’s just wrong.”

House Bill 3342 – Protecting Firearm Businesses from Financial Discrimination

  • HB 3342 prohibits banks working with the state from discriminating against gun-related businesses.
  • Big banks will not be allowed to deny services to firearm companies or trade associations in West Virginia.

Senate Bill 270 – Protecting Gun Rights During Emergencies

  • SB 270 ensures that gun rights cannot be suspended during declared emergencies or disasters.
  • “It shouldn’t depend on a governor’s discretion — it must be written into law,” Morrisey said.

A Step Toward Transformational Change

After the bill signing, Morrisey invited attendees to join him in walking a “Mountaineer Mile.”
He spoke about the need for change beyond gun rights, especially in healthcare and wellness.

  • Morrisey emphasized tackling issues like obesity and diabetes across the state.
  • He highlighted the success of the “Mountaineer Mile” initiative, encouraging residents to stay active.
  • So far, he has designated walking miles in 32 state parks and plans to expand to all 55 counties.
  • “The ‘Mountaineer Mile’ is a great way for everyone to stay in shape,” Morrisey said proudly.

With the signing of these three pro-Second Amendment bills, Morrisey reinforced West Virginia’s commitment to protecting constitutional rights and promoting a healthier, more active lifestyle for all Mountaineers.
