The Mountain State Art and Craft Fair, a beloved West Virginia tradition, is back for its 63rd year, running Thursday through Saturday (July 3–5) at the scenic Cedar Lakes Conference Center near Ripley.

Founded in 1963, the fair is a celebration of Appalachian heritage, showcasing handmade crafts, artisan skills, regional flavors, and music—all while fostering a strong sense of community spirit. And this year, organizers say the event is not only bouncing back but growing stronger than ever.

A Revitalized Tradition with New Faces

After facing challenges in recent years—including the effects of COVID-19 and the retirement of longtime artisans—the fair’s board set a 2025 goal: attract 25 new vendors while keeping the quality high. That goal was surpassed, with 27 new exhibitors and concessionaires joining the lineup.

Attendees can explore everything from pottery, woodworking, and glasswork to fiber arts, jewelry, photography, and more. Expect both seasoned artisans and fresh talent eager to share their crafts—and their stories—with fairgoers.

Live demonstrations by master artisans remain a hallmark of the fair. Visitors can watch traditional techniques in action, ask questions, and learn about the craftsmanship behind each piece.

New This Year: Open Mic and Expanded Entertainment

Adding a fresh twist to opening day, the fair is hosting an Open Mic Session for solo performers and bands on Thursday.

And, as always, music lovers will find plenty to enjoy. A robust entertainment schedule fills each day with live performances, blending bluegrass, folk, and Appalachian music from local and regional talent.
