Summer in the Mid-Ohio Valley means it’s time to get active, and there are plenty of ways for kids and adults to join the fun. From wrestling and basketball to tennis and golf, here’s a rundown of sports opportunities happening throughout the region.
St. Marys Wrestling Clinic: July 8–10
The 11th annual St. Marys Wrestling Clinic will take place July 8–10 at St. Marys High School’s Auxiliary Gym.
- Times:
- Grades K–5: 9–10:30 a.m.
- Grades 6–12: 11:30 a.m.–2 p.m.
- Cost: $40 (K–5), $70 (grades 6–12). Early registration by July 1 includes a free T-shirt.
- Instructors: Pat Sole (National Wrestling Hall of Fame), Chris Daggett, and Wiley Houser.
Summer All-Comer Track Meets: June 12 & 19
Track lovers of all ages can compete at Belpre High School on June 12 and June 19 starting at 6:30 p.m.
- Entry Fee: $10 via Milesplit, or $15 for day-of registration.
WVU Baseball Camp: July 24
Held at The Dugout in Parkersburg, this camp runs from 4–7 p.m. and is open to kids ages 5–12.
Williamstown Offensive Skills Basketball Camp: June 23–27
This is the 35th year of this popular camp at Williamstown High School.
- K–5th grade: 8 a.m.–noon
- 6–9th grade: 1–5 p.m.
- Cost: $100
Ohio River Basketball Camp: June 9–12
Hosted at Ravenswood High School, this 38th annual camp is for boys and girls grades 3–8, from 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
- Focus is on skill-building, games, prizes, and guest speakers.
- Camp Includes: T-shirt, basketball, certificate.
Arc of the Mid-Ohio Valley Golf Scramble: June 21
This rescheduled four-person scramble will be held at Woodridge Plantation Golf Course.
- Registration: 9 a.m.; Shotgun start: 10 a.m.
- Fee: $100/person (includes cart, lunch, awards)
- Sponsorships: Hole sponsorship is $175
Power Point Tennis Program
A joint effort by MOVTA, Greenmont Racquet Club, and local supporters. Events held at City Park Tennis Courts:
- June Match Days: 1, 8, 22
- Sign Off Sunday: June 29
- Time: 2–4 p.m.
- Kickoff Event: June 13, 5:30–7:30 p.m. at City Park with free snacks and tennis games.
Junior Tennis Tournaments
A great chance for young players to compete and grow:
- Summer Junior Tournament: July 26–27
- Honey Festival Tournament: August 23–24
- Middle School Mixed Doubles: September 20
- Rotary Championship Tournament: First weekend in November (Register via USTA website)
