Summer sports action is heating up across the Mid-Ohio Valley with a variety of camps and events for kids and adults alike. Whether you’re into wrestling, baseball, basketball, or golf, there’s something to get you moving and having fun. Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming programs.
11th Annual St. Marys Wrestling Clinic
Mark your calendars for July 8-10! The St. Marys Wrestling Clinic is back for its 11th year, held at the St. Marys High School Auxiliary Gym. Each day features two sessions: 9 to 10:30 a.m. for kindergarten through fifth graders, and 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for grades 6-12.
Registration costs $40 for younger wrestlers and $70 for older students. Sign up before July 1 to get a free T-shirt. The clinic’s expert instructors include Pat Sole, a National Wrestling Hall of Fame member and former college coach; Chris Daggett, a former college wrestler and coach; and Wiley Houser, a St. Marys alum and Glenville State wrestler.
WVU Baseball Camp
On July 24, kids ages 5-12 can join the WVU Baseball Camp at The Dugout in Parkersburg. The camp runs from 4 to 7 p.m. and focuses on developing baseball skills in a fun, supportive environment.
Williamstown Offensive Skills Basketball Camp
The 35th annual Williamstown Offensive Skills Basketball Camp runs June 23-27 at Williamstown High School. Young players in kindergarten through fifth grade attend the morning session from 8 a.m. to noon. Older campers in grades 6-9 participate in the afternoon session from 1 to 5 p.m.
Cost to attend is $100. The camp features experienced coaches and many all-state players as instructors, giving campers valuable training and mentorship.
38th Annual Ohio River Basketball Camp
From June 9-12, Ravenswood High School hosts the Ohio River Basketball Camp, open to boys and girls entering grades 3-8. The camp runs daily from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is designed for players focused on improving their skills and love for the game.
With 36 counselors and 10 skilled coaches, campers can expect plenty of games, competitions, prizes, awards, and special guest speakers. Each participant will receive a certificate, a T-shirt, and a basketball to take home.
Arc of the Mid-Ohio Valley Golf Scramble Rescheduled
The Arc’s popular Golf Scramble has been moved to Saturday, June 21, at Woodridge Plantation Golf Course. Registration opens at 9 a.m., with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
This four-person mixed scramble is limited to the first 20 teams, but individuals can sign up and will be placed on a team. The $100 entry fee covers green fees, cart rental, lunch, and an awards reception. Hole sponsorships are available for $175.
