Authorities are investigating a tragic shooting in Ritchie County that left one person dead and another injured. According to a press release from the West Virginia State Police, troopers responded to the scene Friday evening near Farleys Run Road in the Pennsboro area.
Troopers J.C. Satterfield and C.L. Cronin were dispatched around 7:49 p.m. to a camper after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a deceased male victim and a seriously injured woman who appeared unresponsive. Both individuals had sustained gunshot wounds.
While details remain limited, officials say the injured woman is believed to be the suspect in the case. Troopers at the scene immediately began administering first aid to her until emergency medical services arrived.
The woman was first transported to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg for treatment. She was later transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown for further care due to the severity of her injuries.
The West Virginia State Police Crime Scene Team was called in to assist with the investigation and processing of the scene.
