The West Virginia Mountaineers football program has bolstered its 2026 recruiting class with the addition of Emory Snyder, a versatile defensive back from Bixby, Oklahoma. Snyder, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound athlete, received a scholarship offer from West Virginia on February 13, and his recruitment gained momentum quickly after that.
Henry Weinreich, the Mountaineers’ nickels/sams coach, served as the lead recruiter for Snyder, who visited Morgantown in March to explore the program and see how he could fit into their defensive scheme.
Snyder’s Role and Impact
Snyder is being recruited as a nickel back, but his versatility means he could contribute in several spots across the West Virginia defense. During his junior season at Bixby High School, Snyder recorded 45 tackles, 14 pass breakups, and 6 interceptions, showcasing his all-around skills and ability to make plays.

A Big Commitment for the Mountaineers
Snyder’s commitment marks the fifth for the Mountaineers in the 2026 recruiting cycle. He chose West Virginia over offers from several schools, including Washington State, San Diego State, North Texas, Arkansas State, and others.
With Snyder’s commitment, West Virginia continues to build a strong defensive class, adding depth to their secondary for the future.
