Class of 2026 defensive back Dana Greenhow is beginning to narrow his focus as his recruitment heats up. The 6-foot, 170-pound prospect from Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, Georgia, recently revealed his top eight schools—and West Virginia made the cut.
Greenhow’s list includes Boston College, Indiana, Liberty, Missouri, NC State, UCF, Wake Forest, and West Virginia. While these programs are leading the race, others like Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, Kansas, Memphis, Oregon State, and Vanderbilt remain in the hunt and hope to gain traction over the next few months.
Greenhow has already started taking visits, with a trip to UCF at the end of March. He’s got more travel ahead this summer, with official visits scheduled for:
- West Virginia: June 3–5
- Liberty: June 6–8
- Indiana: June 12
- NC State: June 20–22
West Virginia has already shown strong interest. New safeties coach Gabe Franklin has personally visited Greenhow twice since stepping into the role in January, making it clear that the Mountaineers are serious about landing the talented defensive back.
Greenhow turned in a solid junior season in 2023, recording 23 tackles, three pass breakups, and two tackles for loss. His versatility and football IQ have drawn attention from Power Five and Group of Five programs alike.
For West Virginia, this recruitment comes at a critical time. The Mountaineers’ secondary is currently stacked with upperclassmen, especially seniors, which means restocking the defensive backfield is a major priority this cycle. They’re likely looking to blend experienced transfers for immediate impact with talented high school players like Greenhow for long-term development.
As the summer visits approach, expect Greenhow’s recruitment to pick up even more steam—and don’t be surprised if his final decision draws from this early group of eight contenders.
