Junior to compete in 100m Breaststroke Friday, 200m Breaststroke Saturday
Marshall University swimmer Jenna Bopp heads to the 2023 Toyota U.S. Open Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The USA Swimming event is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, November 29, through Saturday, December 2, with Bopp competing in a 100m Breaststroke time trial on Friday and in the 200m Breaststroke on Saturday. You can follow along here.
“We are excited for Jenna to represent our program, athletic department, and Marshall University down in Greensboro this week,” Herd swimming and diving coach Ian Walsh said. “She has put an incredible amount of work to get to this point in her career and this will be a great experience for her.”
The Wheeling, West Virginia, native will be competing alongside some of the world’s best swimmers including Lily King, who is a three-time individual Olympic medalist winning the gold in the 100m Breaststroke at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro along with a silver in the 200m Breaststroke and a bronze in the 100m Breaststroke at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.
“Jenna is competitor,” Walsh said. “Our staff and her teammates look forward to watching her compete amongst the worlds’ best and showcase her talents.”
Bopp is currently second in program history with a time of 2:15.11 in the 200m Breaststroke while ranking fifth in the 100m Breaststroke with a time of 1:03.37.
