The Huntington Museum of Art will present Art on a Limb, an exhibit of holiday trees decorated with ornaments created by regional artists, from Nov. 28, 2023, through Jan. 7, 2024. A guided tour of the Art on a Limb exhibit will take place on Nov 28, 2023, at 7 p.m. as a free 4th Tuesday Tour Series event. Light refreshments will be served.
Some of the artists who created ornaments featured in the Art on a Limb exhibit will be at HMA on Nov. 28 beginning at 6 p.m. to discuss their work.
The Art on a Limb exhibit features the work of artists in The Huntington Calligraphers’ Guild, Tri-Area Needle Arts, West Virginia Bead Society, and the Western Weavers Guild of the West Virginia Basketmakers Association. The Palette Tree in HMA’s Virginia Van Zandt Great Hall features individual artist palettes highlighting the artwork of dozens of regional artists, including Paula Clendenin, the late Charles Jupiter Hamilton, Lee Ann Blevins, and the late Chuck Ripper, among others.
“Members of the West Virginia Bead Society, Tri-Area Needle Arts and Western Weavers Guild of the West Virginia Basketmakers Association will be at the November 28 event beginning at 6 p.m. to talk about the ornaments that they created for this exhibit,” said HMA Director of Education Cindy Dearborn.
Also taking place in conjunction with this exhibit, Holiday Open House at HMA is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission to Holiday Open House is free, but visitors may bring nonperishable food for the Facing Hunger Foodbank or warm clothes for the Cridlin Food & Clothing Pantry.
