The No. 4 Marshall University men’s soccer team (15-2) is set for its 2023 Sun Belt Conference Semifinals on Wednesday night against the Kentucky Wildcats (7-6-4) at Hoops Family Field.

PRE-MATCH NOTES
- The Herd took its quarterfinal match on Sunday 2-0 over the Old Dominion Monarchs, the team’s 10th shutout of the season.
- Pablo Simon struck first for Marshall in the victory with his sixth goal of the season in the 60th minute.
- Matthew Bell, who assisted on the goal, registered his single-season program record 11th assist of the season.
- Agustin Iusem sealed the match in the 85th minute with his first goal of the season on an assist from Marco Silva.
- With a season-high five saves, Gabriel Perrotta registered his ninth individual shutout, overall 9.5, of the season. The keeper’s three saves in the first half kept the contest scoreless at halftime and kept ODU off the board with two more saves in the second half.
ABOUT THE WILDCATS
- Kentucky triumphed over James Madison 2-1 at Hoops Family Field in the quarterfinals on Sunday.
- Mason Visconti tallied the team’s first goal in the 26th minute with Ben Damage scoring the game-winning goal in the 54th minute.
- Goalkeeper Casper Mols came up big for UK saving a Rodrigo Robles penalty kick to in the 49th minute to keep the score tied 1-1.
