Class of 2027 cornerback Levi Babin is still in the early stages of his recruitment journey, but one program has already made a strong first impression — West Virginia. The standout from Episcopal High School recently received an offer from the Mountaineers, and the news has him both excited and thankful.
Babin, who measures in at 6-foot-1 and 183 pounds, learned about the offer in a special way. His head coach delivered the good news after West Virginia cornerbacks coach Rod West made a visit to the school.
“I was extremely grateful to receive the offer,” Babin shared.
As a rising sophomore, Babin is still doing his homework on the schools that show interest in him. However, he’s already getting positive feedback from those familiar with West Virginia and its college town atmosphere in Morgantown.
“The school has a supportive community and strong school spirit, which creates an electric environment to play in,” he said.
Those are the kinds of qualities that matter deeply to Babin. He isn’t just looking for a football powerhouse — he’s also hoping to find a college that offers a well-rounded and welcoming environment, both on and off the field.
Coach Rod West has already communicated that West Virginia sees Babin as a versatile athlete who can potentially contribute on both sides of the ball. The coaching staff believes he has the tools to develop into a next-level player, and they’re eager to keep building the relationship.
Last season, Babin impressed on both offense and defense. He rushed for 476 yards and scored 5 touchdowns, while also racking up 30 tackles and 9 pass breakups as a defensive back. His size, instincts, and ability to cover ground have made him a priority for several schools, though most programs — including West Virginia — are eyeing him primarily as a defensive back.
In addition to the Mountaineers, Babin also holds early offers from Virginia Tech and Charlotte. While his recruitment is just beginning, these early signs point to a promising road ahead.
Babin hopes to visit West Virginia in the future to learn more about the program firsthand, but a visit date hasn’t been set yet. With no other college trips planned for now, Babin is taking a patient approach, knowing that he still has time to explore his options before making any decisions.
As his high school career continues to unfold, all eyes will be on this talented 2027 prospect. With early offers already rolling in and his performance drawing attention on both sides of the ball, Levi Babin is certainly a name to watch in the coming years.
Will Morgantown eventually become his home? Time will tell — but West Virginia is officially on his radar.
